Do you use the telephone for marketing?

If you think that using the telephone for marketing is a thing of the past, think again. In this day of being bombarded with information, one of the best ways to reach people is by actually speaking to them directly, on the telephone. Lesley Roberts from Talkmarketing will be running the next Focus On Your Business Masterclass Workshop which is all about telemarketing and she is definitely an expert on using the telephone!

The term "marketing" encompasses a whole wealth of ideas, methods and implications, but the end result is to gain more business for your company.

Under the marketing umbrella comes both Telesales and Telemarketing. But what is the difference between them, and which one suits your business needs the best?

You will utilise Telesales if you are ready to sell your product or service directly to your customers and can achieve this by using the telephone. Telesales can be used both for new products/services and for up-selling existing packages.

Telemarketing gives you a platform to build a rapport and understanding of your current and/or potential customer base and to generate new leads that you may not have been aware of. It can also increase your company's brand awareness and help to educate your prospects further as to the problems that your products or service can solve for them. This is less about the sale and more about generating an initial interest, developing opportunities, gathering correct information and snaring those all-important appointments and leads.

Whilst Telesales and Telemarketing are distinct and different disciplines, the goal of both forms of marketing is to assist in the growth of the business.

On the day, at the Focus On Your Business, Telemarketing Masterclass, Lesley will be telling you more about the differences between telesales and telemarketing and also teaching you the important steps you need to know before making a call.

She will also be sharing with you her set processes:

  •  discover how to get past the gatekeeper,
  • find out the best time to make that call,
  • learn how to prepare a script for your calls
  • understand what to say and what not to say!
  • learn how to make the right impact or impression,
  • find out how to deal with abuse and rejection,
  • learn about the TPS - telephone preference service
  • discover what's legal and what's not!

plus many other tips and techniques straight from the expert!

Lesley Roberts set up her company, Talkmarketing in 2007 and now employs several 'work-from-home' mums who have become extremely efficient and effective telemarketers. Lesley's ethos is simple:

"Integrity. On the B2C side, we work purely with charities, we don’t get involved with PPI’s or insurance claims or any such telemarketing. Our main focus is on the B2B (Business to Business) and Charities."

Last month's Masterclass was great, we had twelve delegates attending and they all said how lovely it was to spend some time out of the office and work on their own businesses for a change plus they all learnt tons about blogging. All of them took away ready to use blogs that they had produced during the day!

Here is some of the feedback we received the following day after we asked the question "What did you like about the day?"

“The way the day was planned out. The different variety of people that attended. The food! Annie's presentation was brilliant and Liz's support and input was invaluable.”

“Well organised, professional, great venue, bright and airy. Fab food and constructive presentation.”

“Expert content. Pace of day. Time out to concentrate on blogging. Meeting room. Lunch.”

“I liked the content and pace of the day. I liked that it had a practical element to it. Well done Liz I'm looking forward to the next one!”

“It was very helpful, even though I originally wasn't sure if blogging would apply to me I can now see how useful it is. Liz is brilliant.”

“The event was advertised in a professional manner and it was clear that it was well thought out. I expected it to be as good as the way it was advertised and I was delighted with the experience.”

Lesley has promised her workshop will be fun and there's definitely no role-playing– so what are you waiting for? Book today!
